It was inevitable. Gizmodo reports that all Marvel titles will go day and date digital by the end of March 2012.
But there are some exceptions. Licensed material such as Stephen King’s The Stand as well as Marvel’s own mature audiences MAX imprint will not be included.
While the news may come as a surprise to some, the publisher has been experimenting with day and date digital releases for over a year now. With its Invincible Iron Man annuals, the Ultimate comics line and recent family-specific event books like Spider-Island and Schism, it seemed likely that Marvel would eventually go down this path. Once DC did with the launch of the New 52, it was only a matter of time.
And so tablet and smart phone readers can rejoice, they’ll get their monthly comic book fix just as quickly as the rest of us.
