New ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Details Come to Light

New 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' Details Come to LightIn May, WB Games and DC Entertainment announced “Injustice: Gods Among Us, a new project from “Mortal Kombat” makers NetherRealm Studios. With E3 currently ongoing, new details and images have emerged on both the game’s Facebook page and DC Comics’ blog. New images feature Harley Quinn, Superman, The Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman and Solomon Grundy sporting looks that appear to be inspired by their New 52 counterparts.

G4 also interviewed “Mortal Kombat” creator and NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon and showcased some gameplay footage that had everyone’s favorite characters on full display; Batman uses his grappling gun to hang Flash upside down. Harley Quinn comes equipped with hammer and exploding pies. The Flash shows off some speedy combat moves.

“Our goal is to make the most insane, over-the-top, blockbuster superhero experience packaged in a fighting game,” Boon said to G4. “We wanted to make our backgrounds interactable and destructible. We wanted players to be able to go to a certain part of a background and pick up a car and throw it. So all these events that you see, smaller events of a fighting game, magnify it by ten and that’s what “Injustice” is.”

Boon also talked about the game’s roster (“in the twenties”) and confirmed that the game’s writing team, Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray are crafting a story that details why the DC Universe is at odds with each other.

“Injustice: Gods Among Us” hits stores in 2013.
