Nintendo Direct Elaborates on Second-Half of 2013 Releases

Animal Crossing Plaza Wii U Nintendo Direct

Today’s Nintendo Direct video showed fans the details of their upcoming releases for the rest of the year. The company discussed titles such as Super Smash Bros., Animal Crossing Plaza, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Pokémon Rumble U (the first Pokémon title being released for the Wii U) and many more.

Animal Crossing Plaza is a free application available on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U which will allow Animal Crossing fans across the world to interact. The service will run until the end of 2014 and gives users the ability to share their favorite photos they have taken in-game during their time in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, post messages to one another and share/trade custom QR designs.

Pokémon Rumble U gives players the opportunity to play as, and against, any of the 649 Pokemon from the original Pokémon games to Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Players will also have the ability to purchase figures from Gamestop, akin to the Skylanders franchise, and can scan the figures to allow access to Toy Pokémon and their special traits. Pokémon Rumble U will be released exclusively on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U on August 29.

Nintendo has called 2013 the “Year of Luigi” and the green plumber was finally confirmed for the new Super Smash Bros., which will appear on both 3DS and Wii U. Luigi won’t stop there though, as he is set to co-star in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team coming to stores this Sunday, August 11th.

Legend of Zelda fans should appreciate the small bits of info coming out about The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, coming to 3DS this November. From what we can gather so far, there may be two Triforces in this new installment which takes place after the events of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Link will be using what looks like a special bracelet to traverse the normal world and the 2D wall-world we’ve seen so far.

Nintendo also teased information about the upcoming Sonic Lost World, Rayman Legends for Wii U, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and announced the upcoming release of the newest title in the Professor Layton series as well as the Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney game.
