Call of Duty: Ghosts has become the top selling video game title for the next generation console systems, Xbox One and Playstation 4. Both new consoles released this fall serendipitously with the yearly release of the juggernaut first-person shooter, helping boost sales of both hardware and software.
“Call of Duty: Ghosts is the No. 1 best-selling game on PS4 in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart, and also the No. 1 pre-ordered Xbox One title in North America at those retailers for launch,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We couldn’t be more excited about the consumer response as we look forward to this Friday’s release of Xbox One. As we’ve said before, it’s a great time to be a gamer, and a great time for Call of Duty fans.”
In this latest iteration, the story is mostly told through the eyes of one single character, Logan Walker. Players assume the role of Logan for most of the game, with several other playable characters, including an astronaut specialist named Baker, and Logan’s father, Elias Walker. Though, this is all sidetracked for what most players want a Call of Duty game for, the online multiplayer.
Call of Duty: Ghosts currently holds a Metacritic score of 79 and is expected to be the best selling first person shooter this holiday season.
