Despite the confusing will-they-or-won’t-they mess The Weinstein Company has put this poor movie through, the latest Snowpiercer trailer still promises a hell of a movie, featuring gorgeous visuals and some really stunning set pieces.
In Snowpiercer, Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Song-Kang Ho, and John Hurt play unbathed plebeians aboard a perpetual-motion engine, oppressed by Tilda Swinton’s rendition of a post-apocalyptic Margaret Thatcher.
The movie’s rhetoric (“Know your place! Keep your place!”) veers towards heavy-handed, but director Bong Joon-Ho has proven his ability to deftly fuse dark humor and action with political and social commentary, yielding remarkable results, as seen in the 2006 international phenomenon, The Host.
Based off of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette, Snowpiercer marks South Korean Joon-Ho’s first English-language film. Check out the new trailer below!
Snowpiercer makes its US debut opening up the LA Film Fest on June 11th, and will open in limited release on June 27th.
