“I’m hooked on a feeling!”
And that feeling would be absolute enthusiasm for Marvels‘ Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s easily their most ambitious and decidedly bizarre film to date, but as was the case with the teaser trailer earlier this year, the movie looks too fun to fail.
The full trailer offers a couple of firsts worth noting. For one, we get to hear some dialogue from both Rocket and Groot and they sound spectacular! There’s also our first look at Glenn Close as Nova Prime. But overall, the trailer (again accompanied by a killer soundtrack, this time Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky) sells Guardians of the Galaxy as a film about a group of lovable losers who must join together to save the universe. And really, that isn’t all too different from The Avengers, which saw massive success when it released. Even if Guardians were to earn a fraction of The Avengers billion dollar gross, it’d be a success, but if the film keeps its heart with the characters’ redemption arcs, Guardians could be a surprise smash for Marvel; charming both critics and popcorn-chomping, movie goers.
Starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as the voices of Rocket Raccoon and Groot, respectively, Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn, who wrote the screenplay with Nicole Perlman, and will release in theatres nationwide August 1st, 2014.
What do you think of Guardians‘ latest trailer? Will you be there opening day?
