The Kabooooom! Pull List, 8.13.14 Edition

Here at Kaboooooom we live and breathe comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!

captain marvel 6

Sarah Moran, Writer
Pull List:
Batman #34, Harley Quinn #9, Sex Criminals #7, The Walking Dead #130
This Week’s Must Read: Captain Marvel #6

With my recent stint of raging against cinema’s pigeon-holed superheroines, I need to read a comic where a woman hero gets to use the full extent of her power. Enter Captain Marvel #6, where in this issue Earth’s Mightiest Avenger will get to really let loose. I simply cannot wait to see what sort of action artist David Lopez has planned for Carol. Hopefully butt-kicking, lots of butt-kicking.

Dream Merchant_04-1

Marcus Hammond, Writer
Pull List:
Batman #34, Superman/Wonder Woman #11, Sex Criminals #7, Shutter #5, Amazing Spider-Man #5, Original Sin #7, Coffin Hill #7, Spider-Man 2099 #2
This Week’s Must Read: Dream Merchant #4 (of 6)

Nathan Edmondson’s imaginative sci-fi dream/nightmare drama was going strong with its first three issues and then it disappeared. It will be interesting to see if Edmondson and Novosadov can successfully continue this story. Knowing Edmondson, the story won’t miss a beat.

Batgirl_Vol_4-34

Matt Morrison, Writer
Pull List: Batman #34, Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Two #9, Justice League United #4, Red Sonja #11, Sheena #3
This Week’s Must Read: ALL THE GAIL SIMONE THINGS! Batgirl #34, Red Sonja #11, Sensation Comics #1

How? How do I pick just one of the amazing books written by Gail Simone that comes out this week? Do I pick her final issue on Batgirl – one of the few titles to maintain the same creative team for most of its run since The New 52 universe started? Do I choose the most recent chapter in her revolutionary run on Red Sonja? Or do I select the first issue of a new Wonder Woman anthology series, featuring Simone’s first Wonder Woman story in years with art by Ethan Van Scriver? Clearly, the only sane answer is to choose them all and laugh gleefully like Daffy Duck as I hop away from the comic shop!

Buy these comics at your local comic book store (Don’t know where that is? Here you go.) or digitally via Comixology.com.
