The Pull List, 4.20.16

Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!

Matt Morrison

Pull List: Adventures of Supergirl #7 (Digital), Arrow: The Dark Archer #8 (Digital), Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor #2, Howard The Duck #6, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Five #18 (Digital), Leaving Megalopolis: Surviving Megalopolis #4, Lucifer #5, Red Sonja #4, Superman: Lois and Clark #7
This Week’s Must Read: Clean Room #7

sixth gun clean room 7 cvrThis horror series by Gail Simone and Jon Davis-Hunt is easily the best original series to come out of Vertigo Comcs in years. This issue – a stand-alone detailing the past of tormented child turned self-help guru, Astrid Mueller – should prove a perfect jumping-on point for new readers. It will also hopefully add some insight into the enigmatic Mueller, whose actions so far have defied easy classification as protagonist or antagonist.

Alex Chautin

Pull List: Adventure Time: Ice King #4, Lucifer #10, Bob’s Burgers #10, Twilight Zone Shadow # 1, Back to the Future #7, Jem and the Holograms #14
This Week’s Must Read: The Sixth Gun #48

the sixth gun 48 cvrThis is it. The end of the world. And perhaps the beginning of a new one? Issue 48 of the acclaimed Oni Press series aims to bring readers the ending they wished would never come, but for which they so urgently hunger. After taking a hiatus to finish the rest of the series in full, Bunn, Hurt, and Crabtree will no doubt toy with us a little longer until the series conclusion in a huge issue 50 at the start of summer. Those of us who have grown attached to the cast – specifically Becky Montcrief and Drake Sinclair – are all holding our breath in a maelstrom of color, apocalyptic story, and the pushed limits of the “weird western” genre in anticipation for this issue. If you haven’t read it yet, you still have (a little) time to catch up!
