THE PULL LIST 6.21.17

Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s The Pull List!

Sarah Moran

Pull List: Batwoman #4, Green Arrow #25, Harley Quinn #22, Archie #21
This Week’s Must Read: Aquaman #25

aquaman 25 cvr“UNDERWORLD” part one! In this extra-sized anniversary issue, former terrorists have replaced the Atlantean police. Crime lords control huge swaths of the kingdom. And a deadly undersea arsenal is trained on the surface-dwellers.
All is as King Rath commands—and yet whispers persist of a rebel in the slums of Atlantis: A hero with the potential to change the world. A whole new era of AQUAMAN begins as master storyteller Stjepan Sejic (Sunstone, Death Vigil) joins series writer Dan Abnett for Arthur’s boldest and most harrowing adventure yet!

If you haven’t already been following along with Aquaman, then you’ve been missing out of on one of Rebirth’s best comics. Sure, it was the New 52 that revitalized the King of Atlantis under the pen of Geoff Johns, but the Rebirth run has continued exploring Arthur’s place as both a hero on land and king under the sea. In fact, Dan Abnett’s run has leaned more heavily on the royalty angle, digging in to the complicated politics of the Atlantis monarchy and relishing in the intrigue.

Aquaman #24 saw Arthur unjustly deposed and replaced as king by the radical Coram Rath — not too mention being unceremoniously stabbed through the chest and left to sink, bleeding out all the way down, to Mera’s absolute horror. Issue #25 will pick up some weeks after those startling events, with Rath’s rule established and Arthur hiding out in the Atlantean underworld, biding his time. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, Stjepan Sejic is on art duties, guaranteeing Aquaman #25 as one of DC’s best looking books on the shelves this week!
