The Pull List, 3.11.15

Here at Kaboooooom we live and breathe comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!

Spider-Gwen 2 cvr
Sarah Moran, Editor
Pull List:
Adventure Time: Marceline Gone Adrift #3, The Walking Dead #138, Captain Marvel #13, Star Wars #3, Thor #6
This Week’s Must Read: Spider-Gwen #2

I didn’t choose Spider-Gwen #1 for my must read when it premiered two weeks ago (WicDiv #8 snagged that honor), but I’m remedying that now by making its second issue my must read of the week. Spider-Gwen has been one in a long list of Marvel Comics that have made me realize how much Marvel I’m reading and enjoying. For years I considered myself a hardcore DC Comics fangirl, but if I give a hard look at my pull list and am truly honest with myself, that’s no longer the case. Why, exactly? The simple answer is that with titles like Spider-Gwen and Captain Marvel and Thor and Angela: Asgard’s Assassin, and of course the whole Star Wars line, I’m just more excited to read what Marvel is offering. I can only hope that DC – who do still have great reads in Batgirl, Batman, Aquaman, and Harley Quinn – can catch up.

Pull List:
Amazing Spider-Man #16, Fantastic Four #644, Spider-Gwen #2, Thor #6, Star Wars #3, Coffin Hill #16, Earth 2: World’s End #23
This Week’s Must Read: Southern Cross #1

It’s hard for me to pick this week. Kansas City has its Comic-Con this weekend and Jason Aaron – a Kansas City resident and Planet Comicon mainstay – is a one of the kindest, fan-friendly creators around. I will probably go on a Aaron bender this week. So, what could break that bender? A new Image series by the author of Gotham Academy, that’s what! I love Becky Cloonan’s writing style and can’t wait to see what she does with this thriller/sci-fi/horror tale.

Pull List: Ant-Man #3, Injustice: Gods Among Us #24 (Digital), Justice League United #10, Star Wars #3, The Flash: Season Zero #14 (Digital)
This Week’s Must Read: Howard the Duck #1

I have to read this. Maybe with a set-up involving a duck detective, I’m hoping this book will be reminiscent of Everett Peck’s Duckman. Or maybe it’s because one of the minds behind Sex Criminals is involved. Or maybe I just like books that are sure to be strange and unusual. In any case, I figure this will be worth a peek if only to watch a glorious trainwreck. But I’m sure it will be much better than the movie!

Buy these comics at your local comic book store (Don’t know where that is? Here you go.) or digitally via Comixology.com.

  1. I’m on the fence with lots of marvel right now
I feel like secret wars is going to ruin years of continuity. is it even worth it? Will they make everything I’m reading now be null and void!
Shutter by image is at the top of my pull list.

    1. And that’s why I try to ignore all their tie-in events as much as possible. But Secret Wars does look like a big shake-up, I just hope the books I’m loving survive!

      1. Exactly my feelings

Will wolverine be magically back from the dead? Will deadpool’s departure be real?
        Is falcon still cap?
        Is iron man still superior?
I’m clearly way too worried about this
