Since her first encounter with The Doctor, aspiring artist Gabrielle “Gabby” Gonzalez has traveled far across both space and time. She has seen many wondrous things and had a number of amazing adventures – both with The Doctor by herself and with her best friend, Cindy Wu, along for the ride. Yet for all of that there are two things she has not seen – the city of London and The Doctor truly anxious.

Gabby gets a chance to see both when a random “shuffle” of The TARDIS controls sends them both to London – a city she has always dreamed of seeing. The Doctor, however, is less than enthusiastic and is eager – some might say desperate – to get out of town as quickly as possible.

Luckily – from Gabby’s point of view, at least – there is a sudden scream in the distance as The Doctor insists they can’t stay in London, for some reason. And whatever else she may know about The Doctor – for all his alien ways – Gabby knows he is not the sort of man who can ignore a cry for help or a call to action.

Still, the mysteries remain. Why is The Doctor so terrified at the prospect of staying in London? What mysteries await them in the think-tank known as The Key? And will things every be the same between Gabby and The Doctor if they survive this latest adventure?

Produced by the same creative team responsible for The Boy With The Displaced Smile, Revolving Doors proves an interesting interlude from the current Tenth Doctor storyline. Writer James Peaty spins a ripping yarn that grabs the reader’s interest from the beginning. The artwork by Warren Pleece seems a bit rough at times but it suits the story well. However, some purists may balk as his depicting The Tenth Doctor without a tie! Still, the colors by Hi-Fi are fantastic and the opening and closing scenes by regular creators Nick Abadzis and Arianna Florean provide the perfect frame for Peaty and Pleece’s work.
