Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s The Pull List!

Pull List: Batgirl and The Birds of Prey #10, Detective Comics #956, Future Quest #12, Wonder Woman #22
This Week’s Must Read: Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1

Will Luke find what he’s looking for? Can Aphra be trusted? Or will they both wind up victims of the Citadel’s Queen?
DC Comics’ Rebirth event, “The Button” takes a break this week. (Which to be fair, is all right by me, last week’s installment in Batman #22 was another so-so issue. Why is the The Flash half of this event more satisfying?) In that case, the first issue of Marvel’s new Star Wars event, The Screaming Citadel snags the spot for my must read this week. If you’re a Star Wars fans who hasn’t been following along with Marvel’s post-A New Hope, pre-Empire adventures, then you are missing out of some of the best Star Wars stories this side of being bought out by Disney.
Luke is still in the early days of his training — which has to come on the fly as he risks his life day in and day out for the Rebellion — and it’s been an interesting period of his life to explore. Pairing him Kieron Gillen’s new character, Doctor Aphra — archaeologist, droid enthusiast, and Vader’s former lackey — is a stroke of genius, and the adventure these two will have is sure to be blast. On top of all that, what they’re sent to investigate sounds creeeeeeeepy.

This Week’s Must Read: Future Quest #12

Every issue of Future Quest has been a delight from start to finish. And now that we’ve come to the final chapter, I am sad to see it go but still can’t wait for the ending!
