Pull List: Lumberjanes #2, Star Wars #17, Batman Eternal #6, The Walking Dead #127, Captain Marvel #3
This Week’s Must Read: Bee and Puppycat #1

Most are familiar with Natasha Allegri for her work on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, specifically her gender-swapping characters Fionna and Cake. But over on the YouTube channel, Cartoon Hangover (also home to Pendleton Ward’s other rad ‘toon, Bravest Warriors) Allegri has another great girl and cat duo–Bee and Puppycat.
The first cartoon was a massive hit, quickly spurring lots of fan art, cosplay, and official merchandise. A season of Bee and Puppycat has been funded through Kickstarter, and now there’s a comic from Boom Studios. Bee and Puppycat be everywhere!
Watching the first episode of Bee and Puppycat will give you a great sense of the series’ quirky tone, and if you’re intrigued by it and its cute designs and premise of a girl adventuring with her magic cat, then definitely check out the Bee and Puppycat #1.

Pull List:
Futures End #2, Shutter #2, Nightcrawler #2, Avengers Undercover #4
This Week’s Must Read: Iron Man #25

The “Rings of the Mandarins” story has progressed with bloody action and intense drama as Tony Stark faces off against Malekith and the combined powers of the Dark Elves and the Mandarin Rings. I’m interested to see how Tony deals with the introduction of magic into his world of science and reason. Kieron Gillen has added so many intriguing plots into this story with the inclusion of the Dark Elves as well as the sentient Mandarin Rings that don’t necessarily want what Malekith desires.

Pull List: Batgirl #31, Batman Eternal #6, Justice League United #1
This Week’s Must Read: Future’s End #2

I’ll admit to being largely unimpressed with the Future’s End #0 book that DC Comics put out for Free Comic Book Day. It wasn’t a bad book but I have little interest in another storyline depicting a dark world where the heroes have failed, hope is non-existent and humanity is doomed. And yet, I saw the preview of this issue… and I found myself interested, if only for its depiction of Green Arrow and a hint that he and Black Canary are destined to hook-up in this reality as well. It may be but a brief reminder of the kind of comics I wished DC still published, but I’ll take it.

Lumberjanes_002_coverAnne Mortensen-Agnew, Writer
Pull List: All-New Ghost Rider #3, Quantum & Woody #10, Adventure Time: Candy Capers TPB
This Week’s Must Read: Lumberjanes #2

Lumberjanes’ first issue was a great start to the series (which is apparently only eight issues?! NOOO) so I’m excited to see where Stevenson and Ellis are heading with the second issue. The cover promises adventure on the lake, river monsters, and more clues to the mysterious happenings at the Camp for Hardcore Lady Types.
