After Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment, it was only a matter of waiting until the animation powerhouse would begin adapting Marvel characters and stories for their latest animated blockbusters.
Enter Big Hero 6. Set in San Fransokyo, young robotics genius Hiro Hamada, his brother, Tadashi, and their friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon, and fanboy Fred, must team up in order to battle a mysterious threat armed with whatever high-tech gadgets Hiro thinks up.
This first trailer for Big Hero 6 focuses solely on Hiro and his robot buddy Baymax, who he’s try to trick out with a new suit of armor. The animation is on par with what we’ve come to expect from Disney when it comes to their 3D features, and it appears to suit the funny, action adventure they’re selling really well. Especially with their design for Baymax, as the big, squishy guy will undoubtedly be the source of a lot of laughs.
If successful, Big Hero 6 likely won’t be the last all-ages, animated collaboration between Disney and Marvel. What would you like to see them tackle next? And are you excited for Big Hero 6?
Big Hero 6 releases in U.S. theaters this fall.
