This Week’s Must Read: The Wake #9

I can’t say enough about the suspenseful story or the amazing artwork that Snyder and Murphy have produced throughout this series. I expect a lot of things to happen in this issue since it is about to come to its conclusion. The way Snyder has started tying the different plot threads together promises for a big payoff and I can’t wait to see how he leaves readers hanging until the very last moments.

This Week’s Must Read: Batman ‘66 Meets The Green Hornet #1

Love his writing or hate it, one can’t deny that Kevin Smith is a polarizing figure. And for all the dark and twisted things he’s written (remember Batman: The Widening Gyre?), the man does love classic comics and can write in a decidedly retro style (remember Green Arrow: Quiver?) when it suits him to do so. Regardless of which Kevin Smith is tackling the writing duties (with an assist from podcasting partner Ralph Garman) this will be worth checking out purely for the artwork by Ty Templeton.

This Week’s Must Read: Loki: Agent of Asgard #5

Is it a stretch to say I’m Agent of Asgard’s #1 fan? Possibly, because people on Tumblr are really intense, but there has not been a single page of this book that has disappointed me. Lee Garbett and Nolan Woodard’s art is consistently fantastic, and Al Ewing’s scripts are fun, funny, and smart. Loki’s scheme comes to a climax this time, but he’s unaware of his past self’s machinations or even his existence. Will Thor finally learn his Loki is not who he claims he is? Will Young Loki learn of Old Loki’s existence? And just how will everything blow up in our hero’s face? Find out this Wednesday, and be prepared for me to melt down on Twitter about it all. There will be tears.
