Here at Kaboooooom we live and breathe comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!

This Week’s Must Read: Bitch Planet #2
The first issue of Bitch Planet was like a swift smack in the mouth; a wake up call hidden within the most outlandish of premises. I love future stories that use ridiculous ideas to make sound observations about our lives in the present. Kind of like how the idea of a world run by apes is crazy but humans destroying their society is not. That’s sort of what’s happening with Bitch Planet. Sure, we can say it’d be nuts for a woman to be arrested because she no longer satisfies her husband, but how far away is that really from women being told to stick it out with an abusive man? Bitch Planet is punching holes in patriarchy, and I can’t wait to see where it lands one next.

This Week’s Must Read: Uncanny Avengers #1
After the inversion of various superheroes and villains in Axis, Remender is starting Uncanny Avengers over with a clean slate. Havok is no longer an Uncanny Avenger since the inversion, so the team will have new leadership. From the released cover art it looks like Vision will have a place on the team, which is pretty exciting. Also on the team will be Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver who will get to deal with their family issues as well as a freshly inverted Sabertooth. I’m pretty excited to see how Remender brings Sabertooth into the world of fighting for good.

This Week’s Must Read: Munchkin #1
Admittedly, I’m choosing this book partly because of my love for the game this comic is based on and partly out of curiosity as to just how in the heck they are basing a comic on it in the first place! Munchkin, for those who don’t know, is a fantasy adventure card-game of ever shifting rules based around three key principles – kill all the monsters, take their stuff and stab your buddies in the back to get their stuff. It’s not exactly Lord of the Rings but it should be amusing.
