Never would I have imagined that I’d be choosing an Archie comic as my must read. After all, I always had the impression that Archie was just a step above the Sunday funnies, a more casual offering for those who didn’t enjoy “real” comics. (Man, does that me sound like an asshole or what?) But after reading Archie #1 by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples I soon realized how wrong I was about those kids from Riverdale. This series is an absolute delight and its more modern setting and tone don’t come across forced at all. Plus, Staples designs give Archie and friends a fresh appeal.

Matt Morrison

Pull List: Black Canary #3, Doctor Who: The Four Doctors #2, Harley Quinn & Power Girl #3, Injustice: Gods Among Us – Year Four #16, Rick And Morty #5
This Week’s Must Read: Secret Six #5

secret six 5 cvrDon’t think that I haven’t enjoyed the wide variety of talented artists who have been working on this series so far, but my favorite, hands down, has got to be Dale Eaglesham. His exaggerated style coupled with the many sight-gags he sneaks into the background of every panel make him a good match for Gail Simone and it’s always a treat when the two of them work together.

Marcus Hammond

Pull List: Black Canary #3, Justice League #43, Secret Six #5, Wonder Woman #43, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #4, Runaways #3, Silk #6, Star Wars #8
This Week’s Must Read: Weirdworld #3

weirdworld 3 cvrIt’s becoming a habit of mine to pick Weirdworld when it comes out, but seriously, it’s really good. I was sad to see Del Mundo’s talents leave Elektra (because of cancellation), but I’m glad he found a spot with Jason Aaron constructing one of the coolest looking sci-fi, barbarian tales around. If you want to treat your eyes to a spectacular visual treat, you have to check this series out.
