This Week’s Must Read: Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #1
For the second week in a row I’m picking a Kate Leth book as my must read. I’m a fan, what can I say? But Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat piqued my interest for more reasons than having Leth on writing duties. Hellcat is a Marvel character that’s always caught my eye, but I’ve never had the chance to really learn much about her. And after Patsy… er, Trish appeared in this year’s Netflix/Marvel smash hit, Jessica Jones, I feel she’s due for a resurgence. Playing with her past as teen idol and her present as a superhero, this new spin on Hellcat from Leth, artist Brittany Williams and colorist Megan Wilson (Hell yea, lady creative team!) looks like great fun. Definitely recommend this title to anyone who’s enjoyed the recent Batgirl, Ms. Marvel or Starfire books.
Matt Morrison
Pull List: Astonishing Ant-Man #3, Captain America: Sam Wilson #4, Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor #15, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Five #1 (Digital), John Carter: Warlord of Mars #14, Knights of the Dinner Table #226, Patsy Walker: AKA Hellcat #1, Rick and Morty #9, Superman #47
This Week’s Must Read: King Conan: Wolves Beyond The Border #1
Timothy Truman and Tomas Giorello’s miniseries about the adventures of an older Conan have always been enjoyable treats. This time they tackle the adaptation of one of Robert E. Howard’s odder Conan stories, for Conan was barely a part of it and most of the action focused on another hero whom Conan aided. The story description suggests Truman will flesh out the original tale with more details as to how Conan got involved in the action while sticking straight to the source material otherwise. In any event, this is sure to be one to watch!

Pull List: Amazing Spider-Man #5, Angela: Queen of Hel #3, Pretty Deadly #7, Saga #32, Venom: Space Knight #2
This Week’s Must Read: Darth Vader #14
How can I not pick a Star Wars book this week?!? I’ve loved every moment in this series. I think the way Kieron Gillen is developing the in-between time for Vader is really bringing to light new aspects of the character. We are getting more of the motivations behind Vader’s mutiny against the Emperor alongside with some pretty subtle emotional development. The current story arc, “Vader Down,” is action packed and well worth the time. I’ve been pushing this series on everyone that’s been excited about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
