This Week’s Must Read: Bitch Planet #6

Happy New Year! This year my resolution is to catch up on all the awesome comics I started last year but have since fallen behind. Chief among them is Bitch Planet, Kelly Sue Deconnick’s comic about a women’s prison where inmates fight to the death for entertainment. Of course, it’s actually about much more than that, like subverting the very tropes of women prison stories. This month’s issue is a great jumping on point, exploring the origins of Meiko Maki with artwork from Taki Soma.

Has it barely been two weeks since Doctor Who’s latest season came to a close? It seems like so much longer and it will be longer still before Series 10 begins. Thankfully, The Doctor is back with Clara… for now… in this new season of the comic book, set during Series 9. Robbie Morrison writing The Doctor is always welcome. And it’s high time Rachael Stott was given a regular monthly series to handle after her excellent work doing finishes and fill-ins on other Doctor Who comics.
