This Week’s Must Read: The Wicked + The Divine #19

The Wicked + The Divine has been a tremendously rewarding series. Following Laura as she goes from fan to celebrity and into something more has been a great journey, one that isn’t exactly ending so much as it is transforming. With Persephone back on the scene, WicDiv #19 is sure to start upping the stakes (as if they weren’t high already) and perhaps even begin revealing more about Ananke’s goals (seriously, what the hell is her plan?).

This Week’s Must Read: Howard The Duck #7

The base concept of Howard being let loose in the Savage Land is hilarious enough. Throwing Steve Rogers, She-Hulk, Daredevil and Spider-Man into the mix is icing on the cake. What really has me hyped about this issue, however, is Kevin Maguire of JLI fame as the guest artist.

This Week’s Must Read: Black Widow #3

I reviewed Black Widow #2 with great praise. This is a really fantastic series that everyone should be reading. The balance between exposition and art is amazing and the story has been intriguing from the get-go. Black Widow may be the best superhero book out right now.

This Week’s Must Read: Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems #2

Going through a weekly Steven Universe withdrawal is hard, but here to ease the pain is another Boom! Studios title to read. The Steven Universe comics approach the quick but thoughtful shorts in a way that shows deep love of the characters, and with the return of the television series in May, this mini-series is a great way to pre-game its return. This issue is a continuation of part one, where a gem campfire story may be reflective of a real life problem for Steven and his family. As always be on the look-out for fresh art and the ever tempting incentive covers from Boom.
