Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!

Sarah Moran

Pull List: Future Quest #4, Rick and Morty #17
This Week’s Must Read: Insexts Vol. 1

insexts vol 1 cvrConsidering how sparse my pull is this week, I’m choosing something a little different for my must read – a trade paperback, which is the lingo for a collected edition of single issues. In this case, it’s the first seven issues of writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Ariela Kristantina’s Insexts – an erotic gothic horror about a pair of “vengeful Victorian vixens” who “discover a horrifying power that transforms them into rich and strange new creatures.” I think that means they can turn into bug people, but I’m not entirely sure. Either way, I’ve been interested in this series for some time having loved Bennet’s work on DC Comics’ Bombshells and the artwork looks absolutely gorgeous. Besides, how can a tale of Victorian lesbians with insect powers not pique your interest?

Matt Morrison

This Week’s Must Read: All-New Wolverine Annual #1

all new wolverine annual 1 cvrAll the usual Tom Taylor madness but more of it? A Spider-Gwen team-up? More of Gabby – The Most Dangerous Girl In The World? All good reasons to pick-up this book if you have yet to be exposed to the glory of The All-New Wolverine.

Alex Chautin

This Week’s Must Read: Amazing World of Gumball Grab Bag Special#1

amazing world of gumball 2016 grab bag 1 cvrThe class bell has rung. Written and drawn by the uber-talented Katy Farina, this Boom! Studios special should get considerably high marks. Whether it’s treasure under the school’s basement or the fear of a new school photo, the Wattersons are on the case. Boom! and Farina bring fans of the offbeat and innovative show a series of shorts as a perfect way to start up the new school year.
