THE PULL LIST 6.14.17

Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s The Pull List!

Sarah Moran

Pull List: Batgirl and The Birds of Prey #11, Detective Comics #958, Wonder Woman #24, Star Wars #32
This Week’s Must Read: Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1

martian manhunter marvin the martian special 1 cvrMartian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian’s determination for world domination. J’onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus. And the bonus Looney Tunes backup story features DC characters written by Jim Fanning with art by John Loter!

This book looks ridiculous and that’s precisely why I can’t wait to read it. Martian Manhunter is a criminally underused character who has yet to reappear in Rebirth, and so far, there don’t seem to be any plans to change that. (Maybe he’s another of Dr. Manhattan’s prisoners?) Obviously, this adventure will be just a silly tie-in, but it sure is nice to see J’onn J’onzz on the shelves again.

Pull List: Batgirl And The Birds Of Prey #11 [Review], Detective Comics #958, The Flash #24, Injustice 2 #10 (Digital Edition), Titans #12 [Review]
This Week’s Must Read: Dark Days: The Forge #1 [Review]

dark days the forge 1 cvrDARKNESS COMES TO THE DC UNIVERSE WITH THE MYSTERY OF THE FORGE! Aquaman, The Flash and more of DC’s pantheon of heroes suspect Batman of hiding a dark secret that could threaten the very existence of the multiverse! It’s an epic that will span generations-but how does it connect to the origins of one of DC’s most legendary heroes?
The great comics event of summer 2017 is about to begin courtesy of superstar writers Scott Snyder and James Tynion III and illustrated by a master class of comics artists: Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr.! You do not want to miss this one!

Normally I loathe these big summer event books. I might wind up loathing this one but with writers like Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV on-board along with artists like Jim Lee, Andy Kubert and John Romita Jr. that seems unlikely. Whether it’s a hit or a miss, this issue will be one to check out.

Buy these comics at your local comic book store (Don’t know where that is? Here you go.), from Things From Another Universe, or digitally via Comixology.com.
