THE PULL LIST 8.23.17

Here at Kaboooooom we love our comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop, it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should be checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s The Pull List!

Sarah Moran

Pull List: Detective Comics #963, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Annual #1, Archie #23, Rick and Morty #29
This Week’s Must Read: Harley Quinn #26

“MEAN STREETS!” Harley’s been doing her best to hold her corner of New York City together, but the mayor’s been doing his best to tip the whole town into corruption! Harley’s gonna have to hammer some sense into this guy once and for all…and in “Harley Loves Joker” part ten, The Joker’s vendetta against the thief who’s been scalping all his prime jobs threatens to get everyone killed!

None of the books I’m picking up this week stand out for any particular reason, so I’m falling back on a solid series to recommend no matter the issue — Harley Quinn. This year marks the character’s 25th anniversary, and it’s wild when you consider it took only a quarter century for the character to completely dominate the DC Universe. What Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner have managed in their run on the character is sure to become an iconic series for Harls, and with artwork from Chad Hardin and John Timms, this issue is guaranteed to be another great entry in that legacy.

Matt Morrison

Pull List: Conan The Slayer #12, Detective Comics #983, Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor: Year Three #6, The Flash #29, Injustice 2 #20 (Digital Edition), Rick and Morty #29
This Week’s Must Read: Batgirl #14

“SUMMER OF LIES” part one! Batgirl and Nightwing’s feelings for each other have always run deep…but is their bond built on more than Bat Family loyalty and a long-ago childhood crush? When an old villain comes back into Babs’ life, she and Dick will have to reopen painful wounds and remember a time they’d hoped would remain forgotten. This is an event no Batgirl or Nightwing fan will want to miss!

I am an unashamed shipper, as the kids say, when it comes to Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson. Previous stories have hinted at the two having had something of a romance in the Rebirth reality but we’ve never gotten the details… until now! With Hope Larson writing and Chris Wildgoose on art duties, this issue will be a must read for all fans of Nightwing/Robin and Oracle/Batgirl!

Buy these comics at your local comic book store (don’t know where that is? here you go) or digitally via comixology.com.
