Nearly a year ago to the day, the first Blue Book series astonished horror readers. Based on real-world tales of alien encounters, the comic was defined by its stark prose and monochromatic visuals. Now, James Tynion IV and Michael Avon Oeming are back, this time recalling the many American UFO sightings that occurred in the summer of 1947.

Fans of last year’s Blue Book will be glad to know this follow-up series contains more of the same. Why break a winning formula? This first issue also contains a back-up story regarding the Dungarvon Whooper. While render in pure black-and-white rather than the blue-tinted art that defines Blue Book, it is a worthy tale and enjoyable addition.
