It’s hard to make an honest living when you live in a world full of magic and mystery. Or a dishonest living, come to that.

It’s a sad truth that adventure-seeker, treasure-hunter and all-around lovable rogue Luvander can attest to. Though she longs for a life of heroism, she’s had to stoop to petty theft, card-cheating, highway-robbery and just plain skulduggery more times than she cares to remember.

Freelance adventuring is all well and good for building your reputation as a kind and just person. It does little, alas, for building that big pile of gold you’ve always dreamed of sleeping on.

Still, Luvander’s fortunes begin to turn shortly after she makes another daring escape from another town’s city watch. A chance encounter with an unlucky prince and some soon-to-be-even-unluckier bandits earns Luvander an offer of employment going after more treasure than even her avaricious mind can imagine.

Yet Luvander has a secret that she keeps hidden from all and a mysterious hunter is hot on her tail…

The first chapter of Scales and Scoundrels will engage any fan of high fantasy and all-ages adventure bold enough to give it a try. The story by Shirtless Bear-Fighter writer Sebastian Girner offers a perfect balance of action and humor. The artwork by Galaad is expressive and colorful, well-suited to this book’s young target audience. I imagine this book will find a welcome home in the collection of any reader who enjoys Adventure Time or the books of Tamora Pierce.

Scales & Scoundrels #1 will be available for purchase on September 6, 2017 from your local comic book store (Don’t know where that is? Here you go.) or digitally via Comixology.com.
