Here at Kaboooooom we live and breathe comic books, but if you’re new to the game or just don’t frequent the local comic shop it can be hard to know where to start. For that, we’re here to help. Every week we’ll share with you our recommendations for what you should checking out and what you need to know before you crack that cover – it’s Kabooooom’s Pull List!
Sarah Moran, Comics Editor
Pull List: Batman Eternal #15, Batwoman #33, Harley Quinn Invades Comic Con Intl San Diego #1, Rat Queens #7, Ms. Marvel #6
This Week’s Must Read: The Wicked + The Divine #2
Last month I gave The Wicked + The Divine‘s debut issue a 5/5 – a full KabOOOOOm! rating. Simply everything about that first issue was perfect. Immediately it hook thousands of readers, pulling them into Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s weird and wonderful world of resurrected gods and pop idols. The artwork – especially Matthew Wilson’s gorgeous colors – were captivating, and the concepts of worship and idolatry Gillen introduced were complex but approachable. If its second issue is only a fraction as brilliant as its first, then The Wicked + The Divine will continue to gain momentum and even more devoted followers.

Pull List: Ghost #6, Teen Titans #1, The Wicked + The Divine #2, Original Sin #6, Silver Surfer #4, God is Dead #16, Elektra #4
This Week’s Must Read: Robin Rises Omega #1
Batman’s journey for the stolen corpse of Damian begins its conclusion as the Caped Crusader faces off with agents from Apokolips and the League of Assassins. Tomasi has done a decent, though obscured, job on the Batman & (insert DC hero name here) title. The title of course is hugely overshadowed by Snyder’s Batman, but “The Hunt for Robin” has been a fun story line. I think Tomasi will do a great job of bringing all the pieces together and allow Damian to once again enliven the Batworld.
Matt Morrison, Writer
Pull List: Harley Quinn Invades Comic Con International San Diego #1, Knights of the Dinner Table #209
This Week’s Must Read: Teen Titans #1
The kindest things I could say about the original New 52 Teen Titans title couldn’t be printed on this website. Given that, I could honestly say that this new series would be an improvement regardless of who the creative team was. However, with a writer like Will Pfeifer on hand, I have all confidence that this new series will be fun and worth reading. Now if only artist Kenneth Rockafort were only allowed to do something about the team’s costumes! Oh well, at least Beast Boy is green again…
Erik Radvon, Writer
Pull List: Robin Rises Omega #1, Teen Titans #1, Dark Engine #1, Stray Bullets The Killers #5, The Wicked + The Divine #2, Ms. Marvel #6, Original Sin #6, Black Market #1
This Week’s Must Read: Seconds: A Graphic Novel
Bryan Lee O’Malley returns this week with the full-color graphic novel, Seconds. After producing the megahit Scott Pilgrim series, O’Malley is in a strange position, landing somewhere in the territory of comicdom’s J.K. Rowling. Seconds is sure to be held to an almost impossible standard by rabid fans of his famous creation, but for those who appreciate O’Malley’s offbeat, character-centric storytelling, Seconds looks to be another serving of comic goodness.
