Sarah Moran, Editor
Pull List:
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. #1 (of 5), Gotham Academy, Secret Six #1
This Week’s Must Read: Angela: Asgard’s Assassin #1

To be honest, I didn’t know what book would be my must read until I began compiling this pull list post. While doing so I noticed something called Angela: Asgard’s Assasin #1 in Marcus’ pull (below), and I thought, “Well that sounds pretty rad.” Then I looked it up and learned it’ll be written by Kieron Gillen with artwork by Phil Jimenez and Stephanie Hans! That’s a stellar creative team! I don’t know much about Angela beyond that she’s Thor’s sister (something she only just learned) and she was raised to hate all Asgardians. I’m intrigued and can’t wait to check out this first issue.

Marcus Hammond, Writer
Pull List:
Ghost #10, Detective Comics #37, Grayson #5, Swamp Thing #37, Angela: Asgard’s Assassin #1, Thanos vs. Hulk #1
This Week’s Must Read: Gotham Academy #3

Brenden Fletcher and Becky Cloonan have created an entertaining tale of preteen mystery solving with an excellent mix of supernatural and adolescent drama. Karl Kerschl’s art also helps make this new series a standout. The combination of artistic styles Kerschl employs melds the round-faced, wide-eyed expressions of Japanese manga with an almost painted feeling to the backgrounds. This helps create an atmosphere that is moody and dark, as well a unique series that’s really worth checking out.

Matt Morrison, Writer
Pull List: Earth 2 #29, Earth 2: World’s End #9, Green Arrow #37, Hellboy and the BPRD 1952 #1, Injustice: Gods Among Us – Year Three #10 (Digital), The Flash: Season Zero #7 (Digital)
This Week’s Must Read: Secret Six #1

Gail Simone is bringing The Secret Six back! That sentence should be all the reason you need to pick up this book, but on the odd chance that you were unfortunate enough not to have experienced the glory of Simone’s previous Secret Six series, let me explain. It’s a dark comedy book about a group of costumed mercenaries too wicked to be heroes but too honest to be complete villains. It was a spiritual sequel to John Ostrander’s Suicide Squad and it was everything the current Suicide Squad book wishes it was – managing to be both dramatic and funny in equally twisted fashion. If this new book is only half as good as the original, it will still be better than most of the villain-books you’ve ever read.
