This Week’s Must Read: Red Sonja #0 [Review]

I’m anxious over this title for two reasons. On the one hand, I love sword-and-sorcery and the writing is by the excellent Amy Chu, whose recent Poison Ivy mini-series I enjoyed immensely. On the other hand, the artwork is by Carlos Gomez – an artist whose penchant for gratuitous fan service and complete lack of a sense of proportion has driven me away from Dynamite Comics’ Dresden Files adaptations despite my being a fanatical Jim Butcher fan. One way or another, this book will be an interesting one.

This Week’s Must Read: Inhumans Vs X-Men #1

FINALLY! This underwhelming and forgettable era of X-Men being overshadowed by Inhumans is coming to a close. This event kicked off last week with issue #0, which set the stage for the mutant war on all things terrigen. Marvel promises that ResurreXion will right this misguided ship of mutant comics and the only thing standing in our way now is this event. If you had given up on X-books for the time being, this is where you should jump back on. Charles Soule, Jeff Lemire, and Leinil Yu are more than capable of delivering a satisfying bridge from the dull into the promised land. At the very least, it can’t be any worse than Apocalypse Wars.
