Fall is upon us and with it comes the return of our favorite network television shows. It may be a quaint tradition in these days of streaming media but it cannot be denied that anticipation is running hot and heavy for the premieres of all the shows that make up the shared multiverse of DC Comics inspired series on The CW‘. For those who lack the time to binge-watch everything before the premieres next week, we’re happy to offer these brief refreshers as to what happened last season and what to look forward to in the year to come.
Legends Of Tomorrow
“Guys? I think we broke Time.”
With the speedster Eobard Thawne and his Legion of Doom thwarted in their efforts to reshape reality with the mystic Spear of Destiny, the time-traveling adventurers collectively known as The Legends were ready to take a well-deserved vacation in Aruba. Their leader, Rip Hunter, left the team, satisfied that Sara “White Canary” Lance was more than capable of carrying on in his place as Captain. It was shortly after Rip’s departure that the team’s time-ship, The Waverider, crashed in 2017 Los Angeles. Only the local architecture was oddly different and raptors were starting to swarm around their ship…
The Season Three trailer reveals that The Legends’ cavalier breaking of the laws of time in Season Two has resulted in numerous anachronisms cropping up along the timeline. Paradoxes such as P.T. Barnum acquiring a real saber-tooth tiger for his Greatest Show on Earth! This looks like a job for The Legends… but an older and wiser Rip Hunter, and his agent Ava Sharpe, disagree.
This future version of Rip leads a new Time Bureau that is determined to ground The Waverider and the well-meaning but unorthodox Legends. Naturally, our heroes won’t comply with their wishes when it becomes clear that The Time Bureau doesn’t have a handle on things. Throw in the return of former Legion of Doom member Damien Darhk, now leading his own team of villains, and there’s a lot to keep The Legends busy.
Darhk’s team will reportedly include Gorilla Grodd from The Flash, Kuasa from Vixen and a future version of his own daughter, Eleanor Darhk. The Legends, not to be outdone, will be recruiting a new member – Zari Adrianna Tomaz. Zari, a Muslim-American hacktivist from 2030, who will reportedly discover her own secret power among The Waverider crew.
We’re also getting B’wana Beast.
